Description of Kit Options- "5151" Mustang and P-40 Flying Tiger
RETRACTABLE LANDING GEAR - All necessary components to complete a retractable landing gear, including 2" dia. 4130 Cond. N chromoly tube gear legs and pivot tubes, bushings, counterbalance springs, axles, wheels, tires, worm drive gears, shafts, pillow blocks, speed crank mechanism, metal fittings, hardware and instructions.
LONG RANGE FUEL SYSTEM - All necessary components to complete a long range fuel system, including two custom molded polyethylene wing tanks that are mounted inside the center section box spar at the C.G. of the aircraft. The caps, fuel lines, shut off valves, fuel tees, hardware and instructions are included. The long range option added to the standard 5 gallon fuselage tank gives a total of 13 gallons for many hours of flying.
CUSTOM ALUMINUM SPOKE WHEELS AND BRAKES - All necessary components to install custom 16" spoked aluminum wheels and brakes, including split, cast aluminum wheel halves, tubes, tires, bearings, internal drum brakes, hardware, cables, housing, brake lever and instructions. These wheels really add to the scale warbird look.
MECHANICAL BRAKES - All necessary components to install mechanical band brakes to the standard 16" steel wheels, including brake drums, mounting drums, cables, housing, brake lever, metal fittings, hardware and instructions.
ELECTRIC START (ROTAX) - All necessary components to install mechanical band brakes to the standard 16" steel wheels, including brake drums, mounting drums, cables, housing, brake lever, metal fittings, hardware and instructions.
REMOTE START KIT - All necessary components to install a Rotax electric starter, including the starter solenoids, wiring, hardware and instructions. A separate battery will be required.
CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY - Custom manufactured padded upholstery and headrest to add scale look and comfort to a Loehle warbird. Black color is standard. Installs with velcro stripping.
CUSTOM DORSAL FIN KIT - All necessary components to install a custom dorsal fin to a "5151". The custom dorsal is formed plywood utilizing internal ribs that assemble to create a thick, scale looking Mustang dorsal fin. (The standard dorsal that comes with the aircraft kit has the proper profile shape, but is narrow in thickness.) Instruction also included. (5151 only)
CUSTOM MOLDED WING AND TAIL SURFACE TIPS - All necessary components to install custom molded fiberglass wing and tail tips. The tips reduce kit assembly time and add to the overall "5151" Mustang look. (5151 only)
RETRACT STRUT KIT - All necessary components to complete the retract strut kit installation which is used to lock the retract gear down while test flying a newly completed aircraft and to improve rough field capability. They are also used when trailering the aircraft. This is a simple, bery effective and highly recommended option.
STAR PATTERNS - Full size blueline drawings that allow a builder to properly transfer U.S. military star patterns to the aircraft. One size fits the fuselage and a larger size is used on the wings.
