I. Airframe Kits- "5151" Mustang and P-40 Flying Tiger
The "5151" and P-40 aircraft are the finest on the market today and yet are still within a realistic price range. The kit is very complete and comes with all wooden and metal components, including the box fuselage, vertical fin, rudder, "5151" or P-40 formers with stringers, custom spinner, canopy, windshield, outboard wing spars, center section spar, wing ribs, landing gear (fixed), tail wheel, horizontal stabilizer, elevator, controls, metal fittings, hardware, one quart of epoxy, and instruction sheets.
Wooden components are pre-machined, grooved, cut to length and even laminated to shape, saving the builder hundreds of hours of construction time. No table saw or bandsaw is needed to assemble the kit... only simple hand tools. Metal components are cut to length and formed. Parts are numbered for easy identification and hardware is individually packaged per use.
II. Component Kits- "5151" Mustang and P-40 Flying Tiger
Complete Fuselage Kit- All necessary components to complete the "5151" or P-40 fuselage, including the box fuselage, vertical fin, rudder, formers, belly scoop ("5151" only), stringer, custom formed canopy, windshield, custom spinner, tail wheel, one quart of epoxy, metal fittings, hardware and instruction sheets.
Complete Wing Kit- All necessary components to complete the tapered, cantilever wing, including the outboard box spars, pre-laminated center section spar, pre-shaped wing ribs, false nose ribs, leading edges, trailing edges, aileron components, metal fittings, flight controls, hardware and instruction sheets.
Complete Tail Kit- Includes all components to complete both tapered horizontal stabilizers and elevators. All wooden and metal components, hardware and instructions are included. A builder may order this kit with the Fuselage Kit, but it is advisable to assemble the Tail Kit after building the Wing Kit. Both are tapered and cantilever type, with the physical size of the wing components much easier to work with. The choice is up to the builder when to order and assemble the Tail Kit.
III. Mini-Component Kits- "5151" Mustang and P-40 Flying Tiger
Fuselage Kit- All necessary components to assemble a "5151" or P-40 box fuselage, including longerons, uprights, cross members, plywood skins, gussets, geodetic stripping, various blocks, tail mounting tubes, metal fittings, related hardware, one quart of epoxy and instruction sheets.
Vertical Fin and Rudder- All necessary components to assemble the vertical fin and rudder to the box fuselage, including spars, ribs, plywood gussets, geodetic stripping, plywood leading edges, die-stamped nose formers, trailing edge, plywood tip formers, various blocks and instruction sheets.
Former Kit- All necessary components to transform the box fuselage into the beautiful Mustang or P-40 shape, including formers, stringers, unique die-stamped stringer attach parts, belly scoop ("5151" only) and instruction sheets.
Outer Wing Box Spar Kit- All necessary component to assemble the outer wing box spar, including spar caps, uprights, cross members, plywood spar webs, geodetic stripping, plywood gussets, various blocks and instruction sheets.
Center Section Spar Kit- All necessary components to assemble the center section spar, including pre-laminated spar caps (with dihedral pre-set), uprights, cross members, plywood bulkheads, plywood spar webs, various support blocks, metal fittings, hardware and instruction sheets.
Wing Kit- All necessary components to assemble the wing, including pre-cut ribs, cap strips, false nose ribs, plywood leading edges, aileron spars, spar webs, trailing edges, various blocks, plywood tip formers, metal fittings, hardware and instruction sheets.
Canopy Kit- All necessary components to assemble the canopy and windshield, including a custom formed canopy, three-piece windshield, metal frames and hoops, metal gussets, mounting brackets, metal valances, tracks, rollers, hardware, and instructions.
Landing Gear Kit (Fixed)- All necessary components to assemble a fixed landing gear, including 4130N chromoly gear legs, spreader angles, support tubes and channels, axles, wheels, tires, hardware and instructions.
Tail Wheel Kit- All necessary components to assemble the tail wheel assembly, including the wheel, chrome fork, laminated hardwood leaf spring, fiberglass tape, springs and chain, hardware and instruction sheets.
Guide System- All necessary components to complete the control systems, including cables, push-pull tubes, rod ends, pulleys, nico sleeves, thimbles, control stick, torque tubes, bearing blocks, metal fittings, hardware, and instruction sheets.
Horizontal Stabilizer and Elevator Kit- All necessary components to assemble the left and right horizontal stabilizers and elevators, including spars, ribs, plywood nose formers, plywood leading edge skins, trailing edges, plywood tip formers, metal fittings, hardware and instruction sheets. (See paragraph C. Tail Kit under Component Kits for further description.
IV. Complete Engine Kit- Rotax 582LC "Blue Head"
All necessary components to complete the engine package kit, including the dual ignition, oil injected Rotax 582 liquid cooled, 65 hp engine, "B" gear box*, custom spinner assembly*, engine mounts and channels, rubber lord mounts, custom welded exhaust system, custom radiator, filler tank, coolant fittings, hoses, overflow bottle, lines, oil tank reservoir and mount, metal fittings, hardware and instruction sheets. (*Spinner assembly is included in this package only when ordering via the Mini-Component Kit route.)
*"B" gear box only allows 2-blade propeller; "C" and "E" gear boxes available as well and allow multi-blade props.
V. Engine Mounting Kit Without Engine - Rotax 582LC / 532LC
All necessary components to mount a Rotax 582 or 532 liquid cooled engine, including custom spinner assembly*, engine mounts and channels, rubber lord mounts, custom exhaust system**, custom radiator, filler tank, coolant fittings, hoses, overflow bottle, line, oil tank reservoir and mount, metal fittings, hardware and instruction sheets. (* Spinner assembly is included in this package only when ordering via the Mini-Component Kit route. ** Custom exhaust system requires customer to supply a "straight" type exhaust and it will be modified at the factory to fit a "5151" Mustang or P-40 Flying Tiger. Must specify whether "Blue Head" or prior model.
