This is definitely the "cat's meow" when it comes to the finished look in covering! We've found that the hardest part to cover on the 5151 Mustang and P-40 Flying Tiger is where the fuselage meets the wing. We tried many different methods, but none suited our search for the best possible look...until we decided to make custom fiberglass fairings. Problem solved!! These are so lightweight you'll be amazed, but absolutely takes cares of the crease/bulge/void problems in this tricky covering area.
The word "strake" refers to the curve at the leading edge where the wing meets the fuselage. Early 5151 kits had a 90 degree connection , but later kits were built with a forward curve to give the wheels more room once retractable gear became available. For those who built the early models without retract, please specify the "without strake for 5151" version.
